Coconut water vs. electrolyte drinks: what your body needs

Hydration is more than drinking water. When you sweat, you lose fluid and electrolytes, the charged minerals that help your muscles contract, your nerves fire and your body hold on to water. The five key electrolytes are sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and chloride.

Is coconut water good for hydration?

Coconut water is a great natural source of potassium and contains small amounts of magnesium and calcium. However, it is naturally low in sodium. Sodium is the electrolyte lost in the greatest amount through sweat, so plain coconut water alone may not fully replace what you lose during a long workout, a surf session or a hot day outside.

Why add sodium to coconut water?

Many athletes add a pinch of sea salt or an electrolyte powder to coconut water to balance it. FullCoco does this for you. Each can pairs real coconut water with added sodium and a complete electrolyte profile, so you get natural potassium plus the sodium your body needs to retain fluid.

When to drink electrolytes

Reach for an electrolyte drink during or after exercise longer than an hour, in hot or humid weather, after heavy sweating, while traveling, or when recovering from illness. For everyday light activity, water and a balanced diet are often enough.

FullCoco vs. typical sports drinks

Many sports drinks rely on added sugar and artificial colors. FullCoco starts with coconut water for natural sweetness and potassium, then adds the electrolytes coconut water is missing. It is a simple, clean way to hydrate fully without mixing powders.
